Panel 1:
Xiktali: I would have been here sooner but I was caught up in negotiations. It went on far longer than I would have liked.
Tlakanok: You spoke to them? Did they give you an answer?
Panel 2:
Panel 3:
Tlakanok: It is, not good news?
Xiktali: I'm afraid not. They wouldn't agree to an adoption.
Panel 4:
Tlakanok: Why not? I am no Danger-
Xiktali: It was not a question of safety- Everyone agreed you were psychologically fit. The issue is your unique.. circumstances.
Panel 5:
Tlakanok: A circumstance I did not deserve to be put in.
Panel 6:
Xiktali: I know that, they know that, but be that as it may, it does not change the underlying issue- There is both a social and psychological risk in raising an adopted child in this environment. Either you have to pretend to be human for the entirety of that child's life or tell the truth and possibly make things very stressful for the child. Both these run the risk of exposing you.
